Board authorizes planning commission to work with Wyndham Regional Commission on floodplain ordinance update

The select board voted to authorize the planning commission to work with Wyndham Regional Commission (WRC) to update the Townshend Floodplain and River Corridor Ordinance. Doug (S7) explained WRC had asked that the update be authorized before they proceed and said the town's last adopted ordinance dates to 2007; he also noted that new FEMA maps are available.
"WRC requested that we bring it before the select board and get the motion made and passed, before they move forward with the update," Doug said. Board members discussed past attempts to adopt an update and concerns about topography-based measurements; WRC indicated it would perform the update at no cost. The board approved the authorization by voice vote.
