Committee approves $125,000 overhaul to restore courthouse freight elevator; replacement estimated at $400,000

County staff presented a resolution to contract with KONE for approximately $125,000 to overhaul and return the courthouse freight elevator to operational status. Melissa (speaker 5) said the freight elevator has been out of service for months and an overhaul would restore service without the higher $400,000 price tag that a full replacement would require.
"We have in front of you a resolution to work with Kone, for about a $125,000 to update our freight elevator to get it back to operational status," Melissa said, noting that a full replacement had been estimated at about $400,000. Committee members asked about elevator age and inspection schedules; staff said passenger elevators had been rehabilitated previously and monthly vendor inspections and annual State Fire Marshal certification continue. The committee moved and approved the resolution; the chair announced the vote was unanimous.
