Zoning Administrator Steve Duryea told the Board the recent planning commission meeting raised questions about the county’s zoning language and enforcement for agricultural buildings on ag land and whether floodplain rules affect those structures. County Counselor Todd Luckman explained the zoning review is an administrative matter distinct from tax-roll classification and cautioned the Board to consider the limits of their authority when applying setbacks to all buildings.
Chairman Mark Pruett said he needed time to study the material and expressed a view that setbacks should apply to all buildings, ag or otherwise; Luckman reminded the Board about legal constraints and administrative processes. The Board did not adopt any zoning changes at the May 18 meeting and tabled further action for study.
