Elk County commissioners certify 2025 City and School election canvass; five of eight ballots accepted

On Nov. 13, 2025, the Elk County Board of Commissioners convened a special meeting to canvass results from the 2025 City and School General Election. Chairman Doug Hendricks called the canvass to order at 10:00 a.m.; Commissioners Perry Russell (District I) and Doug Hendricks (District II) were present along with Emergency Management Erica Cordell and Deputy Clerk Stefni Hebb.
Commissioners checked each ballot for validity using Chapter 3 of the Kansas Election Standards as guidance. Out of eight ballots reviewed, five were accepted. The five accepted ballots were processed through the county tabulator; the totals were added to the Certificate of Votes Cast form and recorded in the permanent abstract book. Qualifying write-in names were entered into the Tally Sheet Books and no hand count ballots were recorded.
The commission signed the permanent abstract book, making the canvass results official. The special meeting was adjourned at 11:08 a.m. The minutes are attested by Deputy Clerk Stefni J. Hebb and bear the signatures of Commissioners Perry Russell and Doug Hendricks and Emergency Management Erica Cordell.
