Elk County canvass finalizes primary results after accepting six provisional ballots

At a special Aug. 15 meeting, the Elk County Board of Commissioners reviewed 15 provisional ballots, accepted six as valid under Chapter 3 of the Kansas Election Standards, added the totals to official records and signed the permanent abstract book making results official.
The Elk County Board of Commissioners formally canvassed the 2024 primary election results at a special meeting Aug. 15, opening the canvass at 10:00 a.m. Chairman Jake Liebau presided; Commissioners Perry Russell and Doug Hendricks and Deputy Clerk Stefni Hebb were present.
Using Chapter 3 of the Kansas Election Standards as guidance, the commission reviewed 15 provisional ballots and accepted six as valid. The six accepted ballots were processed through the tabulator, and those totals were added to the Certificate of Votes Cast form and the permanent abstract book. Qualifying write-in names were recorded in the Tally Sheet Books. After completing the record updates, the commissioners signed the permanent abstract book, finalizing the official results. The canvass adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
