Elk County approves ROZ participation, audit engagement and other administrative motions

County Clerk Kerry Harrod told the board the county will participate in the Rural Opportunity Zone (ROZ) Student Loan Repayment Program for 2025 and the commission approved a $9,000 allocation and Resolution 24-07 authorizing participation (motion carried 3-0). Harrod also reported the county's mileage reimbursement rate increased to $0.67 per mile.
The board accepted an engagement letter from Jarred Gilmore & Phillips for the 2024 audit at $19,500 plus out-of-pocket costs and accepted a separate engagement for 2026 budget preparation for $2,950; both motions carried 3-0. Commissioners approved abatements PP24-017 and PP24-018 and voted to pay bills totaling $129,590.42 during the meeting.
