The Fire Chief reported 60 runs this year, including 15 fire calls and four medical calls in May. The department said it did not receive the Fiscal Year 2024 FEMA grant and will resubmit an application to fund turnout gear and other equipment; the resubmission deadline noted by council is June 22, 2026.
Council approved the grant resubmission and accepted that the city would be obligated to provide $5,500 if the grant is successful. Council also approved individual physicals and fit testing for firefighters who missed the group testing last month, and noted a high school student, M. Laveau, has joined the cadet program.
