The Jerome County Planning & Zoning Commission on Feb. 23 approved an amendment to its bylaws replacing a hard stop time with a duration: the commission will change Article IV, Section 1(b) from "Meetings should not continue beyond 11:00 pm..." to "Meetings should not continue beyond four hours." Commissioner Becky Dean raised the change after meeting start times moved from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Administrator Kacie Buhler confirmed the amended bylaw will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners under Article VI for final acceptance.
Commissioner Oscar Carranza also raised a separate concern about terminology in Article II, Section 1: he questioned replacing "Special Use Permit (SUP)" language with "Conditional Use Permit (CUP)." Ms. Buhler said the ordinance terminology must be updated consistently across the code before the bylaw can adopt new wording. Becky Dean moved to approve the bylaw amendments with the added change to Article IV, Section 1(b); Oscar Carranza seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
