Geneva County approves Alabama Power easement to energize new arena

The Geneva County Commission on Jan. 26 approved a resolution granting Alabama Power an underground easement to supply electricity to the county's multi-purpose arena now under construction.
County Attorney Phil Eldridge told the commission the utility had requested a standard underground easement to serve the facility. Commissioner Bart Wilks moved to approve the resolution and to allow Chairman Toby Seay to sign any required documents; Commissioner Todd Brannon seconded the motion, which passed 4-0. Construction is ongoing and concrete pouring was expected to begin soon pending weather conditions noted by county staff.
