The Troup County Board approved purchase of two 2025 Ford police interceptors for the Sheriff's Office traffic division and budgeted additional aftermarket equipment. County staff (Glenn and the County Manager) told commissioners the vehicles would be bought at state contract pricing and outfitted with radios, laptops, body cameras and emergency lighting at about $19,000 per vehicle.
"Pricing is $49.09 each," a staff presenter said when listing state contract vehicle pricing; staff later clarified equipment would add roughly $19,000 per vehicle for installation by a vendor the county has used previously. The County Manager said one vehicle is a direct replacement for a unit lost in an accident and the second will equip a new traffic-unit position expected early next year. The County Manager also noted the county expects partial reimbursement from insurance but will bear a $15,000 deductible per the vehicle claim.
After discussion about funding from the Troup County Capital Fund and possible transfer of salvageable equipment from the damaged unit, the board moved and approved the purchase by voice vote. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
