Plan Commission approves revised US 24/31 economic development plan and forwards recommendation

The Miami County Plan Commission voted unanimously April 8 to forward a declaratory resolution and a revised economic development plan for the U.S. Highway 24/31 corridor to the Board of Commissioners.
Jim Tidd explained the proposed boundaries: a North 24 allocation area north of U.S. Highway 24 down to Eel River Cemetery Road and a Crossroads allocation area south of U.S. Highway 24. Tidd said there are discussions with a company, Aquanel, about developing a 75,000-square-foot shell building on a parcel they own in the area.
Tim Alwine moved to send a favorable recommendation to the Board of Commissioners; Scarlett Graves seconded and the motion carried by roll-call vote with all present voting aye. The commission found that no residents would be displaced by the proposed plan and concluded the materials conform to the county's plan of development.
The commission directed staff to file the declaratory resolution and plan with the meeting minutes and forward them to the Board for final action.
