The Miami County Board of Commissioners on March 16 authorized the chairman to sign an INDOT coordination contract for Bridge 165, a move Highway Department representatives said is tied to a $92,000 federal award noted in the contract pricing. Highway staff told commissioners the contract follows standard INDOT coordination practices and includes inspection services by BF&S.
Chad Watson and Janice Hughes of the Highway Department told the board the department has advertised the project and that plans from a prior application are ready for submission. Janice Hughes said CCMG program funding availability had improved, citing a $75 million increase in competitive access after earlier cuts, and that timely application submission could affect approval chances. The motion to authorize the chair to sign passed 3-0 (moved by Commissioner Mark Horner, seconded by Commissioner Brenda Weaver).
