Jackson County commissioners approve $10,000 alley repair using millings

At its May 11 meeting the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved a $10,000 contract with McNally to compact, seal and repair a back alley serving an Elderly Services site using millings rather than removing existing concrete.
Elderly Services Director Amanda Spalding, joining by phone, told the board Bettis Asphalt did not respond to inquiries and that McNally had offered $1,000 off the bid if the Board approved the work that day. The minutes record the scope as "compacting, two coats, sealed and repairing the back alley way with millings" and explicitly note the contractor will not tear out the concrete.
Commissioner Linda Gerhardt moved to approve the McNally bid and Chairman Mark Pruett seconded; the motion carried 2/0. The county will proceed with the millings repair under the $10,000 contract and Elderly Services staff said they would coordinate the work schedule and any required documentation.
