Students, art department and athletes highlighted in May board reports

At the May 12 meeting, Student Representative Jasleen Gill told the board that end-of-year events such as Farewell Rally, prom and senior activities are underway. The board president thanked Gill for attending meetings during the year.
Art Department Head Art Velarde reported Fresno Fair recognitions including Best of Show for Giselle Rangel and a Blue Ribbon for Brielle Benslay; Velarde listed recent purchases funded by grants and department funds (two electric kilns, new tables and chairs, a Canon photo printer and ceramic tools) and noted the school art show scheduled for May 15, 16 and 19 from 5:00–6:30 p.m. Principal Heather Wilson also reported on spring-sports playoff qualifiers, including swimmer Lucas Huckabay who qualified for two CIF State events.
