Cherokee County commissioners review 2026 budgets for multiple departments

During the June 9 meeting the board reviewed proposed 2026 budgets from HR, the Treasurer, Register of Deeds, Conservation District, Appraiser/GIS and the Health Department; no final budget adoptions were recorded for those departments at the session.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners reviewed proposed 2026 budgets from several county departments during its June 9 meeting. HR Director Deana Randall, Treasurer Heather Sapp, Register of Deeds Karen Johnston, Conservation Director Paul Bone, Appraiser DeLinda White, and Health Department Director Peyton Kessler each presented their department’s budget proposals for board review.
Several budget presentations were informational and the board did not adopt final budgets for these departments during the meeting. The Appraiser/GIS discussion was followed by a 15-minute executive session for non-elected personnel with the appraiser present; the session returned with no action. Later the board conducted a separate 10-minute executive session related to non-elected personnel; no action was taken after that session either. Further budget decisions will be scheduled as needed in future meetings.
