Register of Deeds employees receive $1 hourly raise; board approves pay increases

The Cherokee County Board approved hourly pay increases for two Register of Deeds employees on June 9. Commissioner Cory Moates moved to raise Jess Frasher’s hourly rate from $15.00 to $16.00; Commissioner Myra Frazier seconded. The board approved the same increase for Michaela Histand in a separate motion. Both motions passed unanimously.
Register of Deeds Karen Johnston also presented the office’s proposed 2026 budget for the board’s review. No additional budget decisions were finalized at the meeting beyond the recorded raises.
