Pine Springs council abolishes Planning Commission, adopts Ordinance 37

The Pine Springs City Council voted unanimously on June 2 to adopt Ordinance 37, abolishing the city's Planning Commission following a public hearing and findings of inactivity. Attorney Christina Benson told the council the council had moved to abolish the commission 90 days earlier and that no report had been filed within the 60-day period that would have preserved the commission’s zoning decision authority.

Resident Eric Mead, the only active Planning Commission member, told the council the commission had not been as active as in the past and that the Southwest Quadrant was the only pending issue requiring review; he said he did not believe the commission was necessary. Mayor Christensen closed the hearing at 6:46 p.m. and the council approved Ordinance 37 and instructed publication of the summary as Resolution 2026-001. The motion to adopt Ordinance 37 was made by Mayor Christensen, seconded by Council member Adams, and passed with all members present voting yes.
