Youth groups report projects, ask commissioners to continue $15,000 appropriation

They described multiple projects: trunk‑or‑treat and Red Ribbon Week events, mental‑health speakers, seat‑belt pledge campaigns, anti‑vaping activities, and post‑prom incentives. Davis said the advantage of the program is that "the three schools get to come together for the same reason."
Commissioner Keith Kelly asked whether drinking and driving or texting and driving posed the greater risk for the student age group; presenters replied that more deaths were caused by drinking and driving, while texting while driving was more prevalent. Commissioners thanked the students for their work and indicated appreciation for the programs; commissioners were reminded the county appropriated $15,000 last year and the groups asked for continued support.
