The License Committee voted to forward recommended liquor-license renewals to the full council, including an application from Spilled Grapes Wine Bar, with the renewals set to begin July 1.
The clerk gave committee members an overview of license types and the pending renewals, saying, "I just basically wanna highlight that the main differences are class a licenses are a away. So it'd be like your grocery store gas station. And then your class b is your your tavern, restaurant, hotels, resorts, which is kinda like b as in bar." The clerk also said the police department "did not have any of the issues with them" in the applications for renewal.
Committee discussion centered on whether businesses that are not currently operating should retain their licenses while closed. Staff said two renewal applications had been submitted by businesses that are not open at this time but asked to preserve their licenses so they can resume operations when ready; one was identified in the packet as Spilled Grapes Wine Bar. A staff member noted the applications had been routed to the police department and that the department reported no objections.
A committee member moved to forward the renewals to the council; the chair seconded. The clerk conducted the roll call and the motion carried with all members present voting in the affirmative. The committee did not adopt any on-the-spot conditions for the renewals; the items will be considered by the full council next.
The renewals, if approved by council, would start on July 1.
