The Board adopted an updated policy on public comment (Resolution 2026-0164) on Feb. 25 that gives the commission president or a designee the ability to waive the standard three-minute limit for speakers during public comment periods and adds language promoting civility to prevent disruptions.
County Administrator Jennifer Hutchinson said the update is intended to support a productive public work session on March 4 and to allow more flexible management of comment periods. Commissioner Rittenhouse said the policy will be a work in progress as the board learns how changes affect meeting flow.
The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote and will take effect immediately; implementation details and any waivers will be managed by the commission president or designated official.
