Nonprofit requests county support to sustain rural behavioral‑health services

Jenny Ganchevot, identifying herself as “the clinical director of Glintev Initiative,” told the Huerfano County board that her organization and a co‑founder, Brian Monaghan, have run community‑based prevention, recovery support and crisis‑respite programs in partnership with a local museum.

Ganchevot said the project previously received temporary funding from the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration and associated MSO/BASO channels but that that funding has expired. “We are hoping very much to manage that funding through 3 different sources,” she said, naming private foundations and the Denver Foundation among potential supporters and urging local endorsement to strengthen applications.

Monaghan said the nonprofit’s model emphasizes community building, agriculture and nutrition as pathways into behavioral‑health services and that the program seeks to reach veterans and others in scattered rural populations who are “much more willing to engage in services that kind of fit into their lifelong mission, in community growth.”

Commissioner action: a motion to approve a letter of support for the initiative was made and seconded on the record and the board voted to approve the motion. The presenters left the meeting after the vote; no dollar commitment from the county was recorded on the transcript.

Why this matters: presenters said the services aim to address post‑fire mental‑health declines that often emerge months after disasters and to offer low‑cost, locally accessible supports.
