Committee approves 2025 and 2026 recycling financial reports; notes plastic bag overspending in 2025

The Iron County Recycling/Land & Water Conservation Committee approved the 2025 Recycling Bills/Financial Report and the 2026 Recycling Bills/Financial Report during its Feb. 19 meeting. The motion to approve the 2025 report was made by William Thomas, seconded by Pat Hanson; the 2026 report was approved on a Thomas/Hanson motion; both motions carried.
Committee members noted that the 2025 budget had experienced overspending because of a plastic bag issue at the recycling site, but they said recently installed signs have helped reduce that problem. The committee recorded that spending in 2026 has been minimal to date.
