Matt Payette, Calumet County director of operations, presented the Phase 2 conceptual design for a full remodel of the Health & Human Services second floor at the joint board and committee meeting on Feb. 9, 2026. Payette said the plan would replace mechanical infrastructure that is "more than fifty years old" and reorganize space to improve client navigation, staff collaboration and security.
County Administrator Todd Romenesko and Finance Director Mike Stoegbauer reviewed a proposed financing plan that would use county sales tax revenue to fund the project. According to the minutes, there was general discussion among board and committee members; no detailed cost figures were recorded in the minutes. The recommendation process continued to the Health & Human Services Board and the Administrative Services Committee for formal recommendation and action.
