Committee approves new Iron County recycling ordinance and forwards it to county board

The Iron County Recycling/Land & Water Conservation Committee approved a new Recycling Ordinance Feb. 19 and voted to forward the ordinance to the full county board; motion carried on a Thomas/Mullard motion. The committee also welcomed its new recycling attendant, Keith Hendricks.
The Iron County Recycling/Land & Water Conservation Committee voted Feb. 19 to approve a new Recycling Ordinance and to send the ordinance to the full county board for consideration. William Thomas moved to approve the ordinance, Paul Mullard seconded, and the motion carried.
Chair Roy Haeger opened the meeting at 4:30 p.m.; committee members confirmed the ordinance is a new regulation rather than a replacement. The committee also introduced recycling attendant Keith Hendricks of Hurley, who introduced himself to members and was publicly praised by committee members for his on-site work. Palmquist said she will arrange a key fob to give Hendricks access to the Forestry/Hwy building restrooms.
