County staff: $275,000 Home Safe allocation will target 60+ older adults

County staff said a third Home Safe allocation of about $275,000 from the state is expected this spring and will be used to help roughly 60 older adults through a coordinated effort between CSOA protective services and HHSA Self-Sufficiency housing navigation.
Aaron Cadore, HHSA-CSOA program staff, told the Commission on Aging that Napa County has received two prior Home Safe allocations of $260,000 each for 2022 and 2023 and has largely expended those funds. He said a third allocation of about $275,000 is expected this spring and that the county hopes to help "about 60+ clients."
Cadore described Home Safe as a "light touch housing support" program used by Adult Protective Services clients. He said the county will pair CSOA protective services with the HHSA Self-Sufficiency Division so CSOA handles protective-services referrals while Self-Sufficiency provides housing navigation and economic-development case management. Cadore said that via the two prior allocations the county served roughly 160 older adults who became more housing stable.
