Scott County midyear financial update: gaming revenue steady, EMS fund running a deficit

At the Jan. 29 meeting, David Farmer delivered a midyear financial briefing noting that projected gaming revenues for fiscal 2026 are about $850,000 and are deposited into the county capital fund for vehicles, IT and building improvements.
Farmer reported the road-use tax is tracking at 55% year-to-date—about $250,000 above expectations—and local option sales tax collections are within a 1% variance with a projected $6,200,000 for the year. He said the Medic/EMS fund has brought in roughly $6.9 million and spent about $8.0 million so far, producing an operational deficit the county continues to monitor. "That gaming revenue is fully deposited into our capital fund," Farmer said. "The cash position right now is at December 31 is $1,200,000 and that provides us sufficient amount of cash as we continue through the operations."
