Henry Shuler of Shuler Consulting recommended that the jury award the base bid and both alternates on the Aunt Marie’s Road Capital Outlay project to Regional Construction, noting bids were about 10% over budget because the bid included additional work in a low area where water overtops the road. On a motion by Mr. Kyle Potts, the jury awarded the contract: base bid $531,377.90, alternate #1 $33,300.00, alternate #2 $36,892.80, for a total contract award of $601,570.70. The motion passed with 5 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent and 1 abstained.
Shuler told jurors the bid includes contract provisions intended to correct the low-water crossing and that replacing culverts is not covered by the grant and will come from the regular road fund if needed. Regional Construction was the recommended contractor; the jury approved awarding the base and alternates as presented.
