Winn Parish road crew reports repairs, FEMA work and weather delays

Perry Holmes, Winn Parish Road Superintendent, updated the Police Jury on county road maintenance and recovery work, saying crews have been able to make progress when weather permits. "One grader has been down about a month but has been repaired and is back working," Holmes said, and the crew is continuing work on FEMA projects.
Holmes told jurors that wet conditions have delayed a requested bus turnaround in the Village of Sikes and that ditches on school practice and baseball fields remain full of pine straw and water, limiting work. Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett added that grass cutting is going well but operator changes have required adjustments, and pothole patching is being used as needed where there is no dedicated truck driver.
