Ward County approves $16,521.16 SWAT gear purchase; juvenile detention appeal pending

Sheriff Robert Roed presented an asset-forfeiture request to purchase SWAT gear for county deputies; commissioners approved the purchase totaling $16,521.16 to be paid from asset forfeiture funds by roll-call vote.
Major Chief Deputy Paul Olthoff provided an update on the Juvenile Detention appeal, reporting the center received a noncompliance rating on Feb. 1 and that an appeal was filed. Olthoff said a response to the appeal should be received within the next few weeks. The commission opened the floor for public comment; no one came forward and the meeting adjourned at 11:05 AM.
The commission also approved a Reliance contract presented by Major Chief Deputy Olthoff earlier in the agenda.
