St. James reports "A" water system grades; parish to grant three premium-holiday months for health insurance

Parish President Peter Dufresne announced that both the East Bank and West Bank Water Districts earned "A" grades from the Louisiana Department of Health, indicating the systems meet state standards for water quality, monitoring, treatment, maintenance and emergency preparedness.
Dufresne also said the parish met with its health insurance carrier ahead of the July 1 renewal and that "because of this stability, we will be able to provide employees and retirees with 3 months of premium holidays again this year," covering July, November and December at no cost to participants. Finance Director Felix Boughton reported a workers' compensation dividend of $59,498.95 for 2026, up from $30,038.78 in 2025.
