Scott County sets Feb. 12 public hearing for fiscal‑2026 budget amendment

Staff told the Committee of the Whole the board must set a public hearing date for the proposed amendment to the county's fiscal 2026 budget. The committee set the hearing for Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
"We do generally do 2 budget amendments a year, and this is will be our 1st 1 in February," David said, explaining that department data were collected in November and December and that a detailed memo describing the changes will be provided at the hearing. He said the legal/publication timeline requires notices to run in local papers between 10 and 20 days before the hearing, and staff will aim for roughly 13–15 days to meet that requirement.
David said he will prepare the memo and be absent from the committee of the whole in two weeks but will have the memo ready for the hearing and publication of the notice. No vote on the amendment itself occurred at this session; the hearing will be the venue for public comment and the formal action.
