County IT staff presented the jail management system procurement to the Committee of the Whole on Jan. 13 and recommended beginning contract negotiations with Tyler Technologies.
"This resolution is to begin contract negotiations with Tyler Technologies for their jail management software," the IT presenter said, summarizing a multistep selection that began with an RFP that produced 10 responses, moved to four on‑site vendor demonstrations and included reference checks and site visits for two products. Staff said Tyler was selected based on fit, vendor capability and the county's evaluation process.
Board members asked whether a final contract would return to the board. A committee member confirmed that the presentations are for negotiations and that "the final contracts will come back...For approval." The presentation emphasized that the project is large and staff wanted board visibility before proceeding with detailed negotiations.
