County staff updated the board that the Board of Commissioners extended a moratorium on data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities for an additional 90 days while staff and the county attorney draft a proposed ordinance. The extension was described as aligning county timing with the city’s moratorium so both jurisdictions can coordinate ordinance language.
"They extended the moratorium another 90 days on the data centers," staff said, and added that staff and county attorney Mark DeGinero are working on ordinance language to return before the moratorium ends. The board did not take formal action; staff presented the item as an FYI and said county staff is consulting neighboring jurisdictions’ ordinances to create complementary rules.
