Parish Engineer Eric Hudson reported at the June 17 meeting that recent oil-and-gas activity by BPX Energy, LLC caused significant damage to McDade Road (off U.S. Highway 71 in Elm Grove). BPX agreed to reimburse the parish for repair costs and the jury approved an agreement authorizing the parish to complete repairs and seek reimbursement.
Hudson said about 1,000 feet of roadway requires repair and that work may be completed by the Highway Department or advertised for bid. "BPX Energy has agreed to pay the costs for repairs to McDade Road and advised that a standard agreement is required for the parish to complete the project for reimbursement by BPX Energy, LLC," Hudson said. The jury approved the agreement and adopted a resolution authorizing the Parish Administrator or Parish President to execute documents.
