Van Buren County supervisors approve prior minutes, open FY2026 budget reviews

The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors met in Keosauqua on Feb. 3, 2025. Chairman Mark Meek opened the meeting, led the Pledge of Allegiance and recorded that Supervisors Meek, Waugh and House were present.
On a motion by Supervisor House, seconded by Supervisor Waugh, the board approved the minutes from the morning meeting of Jan. 27, 2025, the evening meeting of Jan. 27, 2025, and the evening meeting of Jan. 31, 2025. The motion carried with three ayes.
Following the procedural business, department representatives appeared to review and answer questions about their FY2026 budget requests. County staff listed as participating included County Auditor Lisa Plecker and Deputy Auditor Laura Thomas, County Treasurer Linda Whitten, County IT Director Max Harlan, Local Health Nurse Administrator Lindee Thomas and nurse Candy Wenke, County Conservation Director Richard Daugherty, County Recorder Lisa Crane and Deputy Recorder Taylor Thornsberry. The minutes record that those representatives were present and available for questions; the record does not show any final budget approvals that evening.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 PM. The minutes are signed by Mark Meek, Chairman, and attested by Lisa Plecker, County Auditor.
