County approves KRAF grant for EMS Stairchair with $4,035.53 county match

Kara Lawrence, Pawnee County EMS Director, told commissioners she had been awarded a 2026 KRAF grant to purchase a Stairchair for an ambulance and requested the county's prior approval to accept the award. Lawrence said she had budgeted for the match because an earlier grant for 800 radios had freed up budget capacity.
Lawrence described the grant terms as a 75% grant and a 25% county match. Commissioners approved acceptance of the KRAF grant and the 25% match of $4,035.53, to be paid from the EMS budget. The motion, made by Commissioner Miller and seconded by Commissioner Burdett, passed 3-0.
The approved purchase is intended to place a Stairchair aboard the second ambulance to improve patient handling during stair carries.
