County updates public-notice process after LB 596, will publish schedule quarterly

Courtney Lyons, deputy county clerk, presented a resolution to update Lancaster County's meeting-notice procedures following the passage of Nebraska Legislative Bill 596. Lyons said the resolution reflects the change required under LB 596 and "instead of notice for each meeting in the paper, it'll be the regular schedule we published 4 times per year in the paper," which the board approved.
The change will alter how the county provides public notice of board meetings, replacing the prior practice of per-meeting newspaper notices with a quarterly published schedule of meeting dates. Commissioners approved the resolution by roll call at the July 28 meeting.
