The Cass County Board of Zoning Appeals approved zoning variance ZV 33 on April 1, granting a one-time variance requested by the Harrisonville Chamber of Commerce Foundation for a multi-day event near 30402 E 275th Street and 27225 S Kaufman Road in Harrisonville.
County staff explained the Chamber sought a single-event variance rather than an annual special-use permit and said events were planned over three days to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. Ben Schimelvin identified himself to the board as "the executive director for the Harrisonville Chamber of Commerce Foundation" and offered to answer questions. The board moved, seconded and recorded a vote approving the variance (vote recorded as 4–0 in favor).
