A staff member explained the need for additional space, noting the current sheriff’s office building is more than two decades old and that moving the unit farther north would be considerably costlier. “Relocating to the North seemed to be considerably more expensive than we wanted to tax the public with,” the staff member said, arguing the county should evaluate an addition before pursuing relocation. The resolution directs staff to proceed with the feasibility study to inform next steps.
