Troup County commissioners voted Dec. 2 to extend the county's moratorium on data centers and crypto‑mining uses by 90 days, moving the termination to March 16, 2026.
County Attorney explained the draft resolution in the packet and recommended a 90‑day extension to align the county moratorium's schedule with the City of LaGrange's similar restriction. "So this would extend through the close of business 90 days... through the close of business on 03/16/2026," the County Attorney said when describing the proposed termination date.
During the public‑hearing portion of the meeting Cindy Hutchings, who gave her name and address for the record, urged the commissioners to extend the moratorium: "Please, please extend the moratorium. There's still work to be done." Chair moved approval and the motion carried by voice vote, extending the moratorium through March 16, 2026.
