Commissioners approve ground‑lease amendment for Project Wing to satisfy FAA

The Troup County Board voted Dec. 2 to approve a ground‑lease amendment for Project Wing that staff said the Federal Aviation Administration required as a condition for FAA approval.
"The FAA came back and withheld approval, contingent on a couple of specific items," the presenter told the board, saying one required change was an amendment to the existing ground lease to incorporate a business plan and clarify aeronautical versus non‑aeronautical uses. The presenter said the apron area will remain strictly aeronautical and the amendment will document how the facilities will be used.
Chair moved approval of the lease amendment and the motion carried by voice vote. Staff said the FAA had requested written confirmation within a 60‑day window and that adopting the amendment was intended to permit the county to proceed with the aviation complex project once FAA approval follows.
