Historic panel approves Pickles Deli awning and storefront repaint on Lebanon square

The Historic Preservation Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness for 110 West Washington Street to permit a new awning and storefront paint scheme for Pickles Deli. Derek, the commission staff member who presented the application, said the building is a "contributing" structure in the Lebanon Courthouse Square Historic District and that staff found the proposed changes reversible and compatible with the building's character. Staff noted the painted awning sign does not require a separate COA.

Applicant Tony Amick told the commission the green will be a touch darker than the sample shown and that the sign will be flat rather than three‑dimensional. "I didn't want something that looked south of the border or was gaudy or, you know, bright flashy neon," Amick said. Commissioners asked about lighting and materials; Amick said no sign lighting is currently planned and that the storefront entry will remain board‑and‑batten wood with a sage green collar (paint code 73994A). A motion to approve the COA was made and seconded and the chair called the application approved; the transcript records verbal "Aye" responses but does not include a full roll‑call tally.
