Commissioners decline to oppose Wamego's Kaine Addition RHID; vote 4-1

The Board of Pottawatomie County Commissioners on April 13 voted not to oppose the Kaine Addition Rural Housing Incentive District (RHID) that the City of Wamego recently approved.
Stacie Eichem of the City of Wamego updated the commissioners that the Wamego City Commission passed the RHID and that the county and the school district entered a 30-day appeal window. Eichem told the board that the three areas of concern previously raised have been addressed. Commissioner Merl Page moved that the county not oppose the RHID; Bill Drew seconded. The motion carried 4-1 with Commissioner Deloyce McKee recorded as opposed; McKee said she wants to see the project go through but cited issues in her neighborhood as her reason for opposing.
The action does not represent a county opposition during the 30-day appeal period and was recorded in the meeting minutes as a formal motion and vote.
