Pottawatomie County approves 2026 chip-seal and overlay contracts, and $100,000 patch fund

Public Works Administrator Tim Eisenbarth presented the County Engineer’s and Road Supervisor’s annual report and recommended awards. Commissioners approved a Notice of Award for the 2026 chip-seal contract to Mid America Road Builders in the amount of $851,937.85 (motion by Deloyce McKee; second by Bill Drew; vote 5-0). They also approved a Notice of Award for 2026 overlay projects to Shilling for $2,078,857.00 (motion by Merl Page; second by Gary D. Yenzer; vote 5-0). In a separate motion, the board approved up to $100,000 to patch roads throughout the county (McKee moved; Yenzer seconded; vote 5-0).
Nathan Bergman of engineering firm Bartlett & West told the board an informational meeting will be scheduled for the Blue Township Alternate Route study to share study details with residents. The contract awards and patching authorization position county crews and contractors to proceed with planned work this construction season.
