Morgan County Public Works Director Kevin Little presented three recommendations for the county's solid waste collection system: (1) close the existing compactor sites, (2) construct manned collection sites at Godfrey Fire Station and at Seven Islands Road/I-20, and (3) implement Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste tipping fees.
Commissioners discussed the recommendations and moved the item to the next Board meeting under Unfinished Business for additional discussion and detail. No final action on closures, site construction, or tipping fees was taken at the May 19 session.
The proposals would change how residents access solid waste services and could affect county operational costs and user fees; staff will return with implementation details and cost estimates at a subsequent meeting.
