Ellis County Library Board reviews year-end legal bill, approves $1,476 in invoices

The Ellis County Library Board on March 4 approved payment of two invoices totaling $1,476 and heard a treasurer’s report about an outstanding legal bill from Jeter Law.
Treasurer Jennifer Teget told the board, “we had a bill from Jeter Law for services. It is $1086 to the end of 2025,” and said the board intends to present that bill to the county to close out 2025 while charging the remainder to the library board’s new account. Teget also said a new invoice includes a $30 line from 2025 and the rest will be paid from the new account.
Teget reported that she collects the board’s bank statements from attorney Todd Powell’s office to review them for accuracy and that she checked the board’s entity number against the Kansas Collateral Pool reporting (which showed 102% in the bank’s submission) and found no discrepancies. She said she plans to take a May finance class to maintain oversight practices.
Board member Darin Myers cautioned that 2025 funds cannot pay the Jeter bill and reiterated that the board will need to use the new account for the expense. The board approved payment of invoices 13311 and 13176 (total $1,476.00) on a motion by Kylie Honas, seconded by Becky Rogowski.
