Beaufort County Sheriff's Office opens registration for fall 2026 Citizens Police Academy

The program meets once a week and, according to the announcement, covers patrol operations, the 911 dispatch center, criminal and cold case investigations, forensic services, the firearms training simulator (FATS), and crime-prevention resources. Participants will spend one Saturday observing demonstrations from special-operations units including aviation and drone, SWAT, the canine unit and a bloodhound tracking team, and each participant will have an opportunity to take part in a ride-along with a patrol deputy at the program's conclusion.
The release gives separate start dates and locations to serve residents across the county: South Beaufort County classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 18, running 6–9 p.m. in Bluffton; Northern Beaufort County classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 20, running 6–9 p.m. in Beaufort. The bulletin directed listeners to the sheriff's website for registration details.
