Planning director updates supervisors on CUPs, rezonings and a 64-acre Antill wetland mitigation project

Stephanie Johnson, the county’s planning director and zoning administrator, presented the monthly planning report and identified multiple pending matters that remain under staff review. She said staff continue to process conditional use permits and rezonings: CUP 2501 (Kenny’s Place) remains incomplete; CUP 2502 (7th Day Adventist Church radio tower erected without a permit) has completed application work and been scheduled for planning commission review; REZ 2402 would rezone the Cumberland Industrial Park from M‑1 to M‑2; and REZ 2501 for Valco Investments was deferred to a future meeting.
Johnson provided permit statistics for March (three commercial accessory permits, eight residential primary permits, 11 residential accessory permits and two farm structure permits issued) and said three minor subdivisions were approved with 49 still pending. She also described two small-scale solar projects on the southern end of the county and outlined an Antill wetland mitigation and restoration project covering about 64 acres adjacent to the James River.
