Servacek told the Select Board the commission had approved the project on May 20 and that one $1,000 donation from William Gaver was already earmarked for Hackett. Public attendee Hon. Ed Comeau offered to "personally match William Gaver’s $1,000 donation" and emphasized a preference for private donations rather than tapping taxpayer funds. Board members asked clarifying questions about account balances and the optics of the expenditure, noting other Heritage needs such as town house maintenance.
The Select Board did not take a formal vote because the Heritage Commission controls spending under the relevant RSA; board members provided input but acknowledged they are not the approving authority for commission funds. The board also discussed that road access to the Hackett site is via a dirt road that is not town-maintained, and visitors should use caution depending on weather and season. No motion was made.
