During the public-comment period on April 22 multiple speakers urged the board to change Houston County's at-large representation system to district-based representation. Rev. Dr. Rutha Jackson, Dr. Daryl Vining, Jaqueline Rozier and Jonathan Johnson each "spoke on their views of the at-large representation utilized in the County and advocated changing it to district representation," according to meeting minutes.
Other public commenters raised different concerns: Tim Burkle offered ideas for improving traffic flow in Houston County, and Bob Floyd spoke about various personal issues. The board took no formal action on representation during the meeting; public comment closed before commissioners moved to their remarks and adjournment.
